Flex Members in the Holiday Spirit

‘Tis the season for rideshare and delivery holiday good tidings! This December, Flex members are sharing the holiday spirit and ensuring our earners and customers can celebrate with ease. Check out just some of the many initiatives and uplifting stories below:

Extra Holiday Cheer:

With many financially worried this holiday season, app-based platforms can offer a solution. Earners like Emilee Rogers have turned to rideshare for extra holiday income. “If I drive during the holidays, I can easily add an extra couple hundred dollars a week … [which] helps me get stuff for my grandson, who was born last year.” 

Bill Kotarski, an Uber driver in Green Bay also uses the platform to supplement his income around the holidays.  “And it helps out this time of year," Kotarski noted. "You can give the kids better Christmas presents and it's just a good deal.”

Travel Home for the Holidays:

Time-crunched on holiday travel? In an effort to make traveling less stressful and as a part of Lyft’s scheduled “on-time pickup promise,” an automatic credit will be issued if there is a delay in pick-up. Lyft also announced $20 ride-share credits to Marylanders in partnership with the Governors Highway Safety Association and Responsibility.org, encouraging folks to choose ridesharing to prevent impaired driving.

Grubhub users can save at the gas station. In collaboration with Fuel Rewards®, Grubhub customers can save 5 cents per gallon on their next fill-up for every $50 spent on Grubhub.

Fighting Food Insecurity: 

Grubhub continues to roll out their ‘Serving the City’ program, in Chicago, partnering with local aldermen to provide 500 meals directly from local restaurants to those most in need. In New York City, Grubhub launched a 16-week program to deliver 25,000 meals, fighting food insecurity in each city district.

Instacart has partnered with Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization, through Community Carts. This feature allows users to donate food to over 100 affiliated food banks by shopping items from their wish list. All delivery and service fees are waived by Instacart, allowing 100% of the proceeds to be directed to those most in need.

Making an impact on food insecurity in Queens, New York, DoorDash and Sunnyside Community Services partnered to give out hundreds of free turkeys to families for their holiday celebrations. And to bring a smile to your face, check out DoorDash’s “Miracle Mile” film to be reminded that it’s the everyday miracles that make the holiday season special. 

Gift-Giving with Ease: 

Shipt knows that gifting can be stressful. This holiday season, Target is offering 500 Target Circle members the chance to win a $500 shopping spree and one-year membership for Target's same-day delivery with Shipt.

Additionally, DoorDash is offering Deck the Doorstep, which includes twelve festive days of deals to help make holiday shopping stress-free and convenient. Uber One members can purchase–with free delivery– an exclusive gingerbread making kit, “A Very Grinchmas Kit”, in collaboration with Dr. Seuss Enterprises.
