WASHINGTON, D.C. – Kristin Sharp, CEO of Flex, the trade association representing America's leading app-based rideshare and delivery platforms and the people who count on them, released the following statement today on the nomination of Department of Labor Deputy Secretary Julie Su to the position of Secretary:
“The Secretary of Labor must advance policies that support 21st Century work. However, Julie Su’s record in California of undercutting the millions of Americans who choose flexible work is troubling. We expect the Senate confirmation process will include a meticulous review of her record and its potential impact on worker independence and consumer choice. Meanwhile, we continue to urge the Department to delay the finalization of its proposed Independent Contractor rule until a permanent Secretary is confirmed.”
