Flex Statement on Senate Confirmation Hearing for Julie Su to be Secretary of Labor

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Kristin Sharp, CEO of Flex, the trade association representing America's leading app-based rideshare and delivery platforms and the people who count on them, released the following statement today after the Senate HELP Committee confirmation hearing on the nomination of Julie Su to be U.S. Secretary of Labor:

“The next Labor Secretary must embrace the flexible earning opportunities that app-based platforms have unleashed for millions of Americans. We continue to be deeply concerned with Julie Su’s objectivity, particularly given her record in California of undercutting independent work–with real impacts on families and communities. We were disappointed she did not sufficiently address those concerns in today’s hearing, and we hope to discuss these issues directly with the nominee in short order.”
